Helpful Points Regarding Automobile Accidents
Call 911!
Provide care for the injured. Don't exceed you abilities but don't be afraid to help. Learn to treat "shock". Contact the Red Cross for information and training on CPR and first aid.Gather factual information. Look for witnesses who may be able to substantiate your version of the accident. Write down descriptions of vehicles, tag numbers, directions traveling, lanes traveling, road conditions, weather conditions and other contributing factors. Write down names, addresses, telephone numbers and insurance information of the other drivers, occupants and vehicles owners. Don't assume that this information will be provided in a policy report. It is much easier and complete to obtain this information at the accident scene rather than be inconvenienced trying to get a policy report the following days.
Take Photos of the damage and accident scene.

Report the claim to the insurance company ASAP by using the direct claims reporting contact numbers. Most carrier's automobile insurance ID cards include a national (toll free) telephone number to report a claim and receive emergency service. If you need a rental car or emergency service, you will be directly in contact with someone who can make such arrangements. Our web site will always have information available for direct reporting of claims and for emergencies.Protect your property from further loss. Remove all personal articles from your car if it is not drivable. Do not leave credit card receipts or other documents in the vehicle. Do not assume that your property is safe from further loss because it will be taken to a storage facility.

Helpful Points Regarding Property Losses

  1. Don't hesitate to call 911 to secure the premises
  2. Shut off power or check for hazards caused by the loss.
  3. Care for the injured.
  4. Protect your property from further loss.
  5. Take whatever measures and incur whatever expense you would incur if you didn't have insurance.
  6. Try to analyze the damage so that you can describe the details of the loss to the insurance company. In the event of a common disaster, this will help the adjuster to prioritize the loss for immediate service to the most needy.
  7. Report the loss to the insurance company ASAP. By reporting the claim directly to the insurance company, arrangements for covered supplemental expenses, such as additional living expenses, may be handled over the telephone.

Helpful Points Regarding Workers Comp Claims

The first priority is to attend to the injured worker. If the injury or illness is an emergency, seek qualified medical attention at the nearest facility. Once the emergency has passed, care will generally revert to a medical provider chosen by the employer. If the injury is minor and requires only first aid, the responder should be appropriately trained and use the proper personal protective equipment.

As soon as you, the employer, are notified of an injury or illness, immediately report the claim to your workers compensation insurance company.
